One of the greatest clutch putters in the world, Tiger Woods, wants you to sink some big time putts and have fun, too.
“Some of my happiest memories are spending time with my pops on the golf course having putting contests,” Woods said at a recent media conference announcing this venture. “I’m looking forward to others enjoying time with their kids at PopStroke. This is a new way for individuals to experience the game of golf. It’s about bringing people together.”
Woods is partnering with the PopStroke Entertain Group to build one-of-a-kind putting/entertainment complexes. There are currently three PopStrokes open with more to follow.
Here’s what to expect at PopStroke:
1. No Clown Mouths or Windmills
See you later Mr. Clown Mouth and you can take your windmills and dragon’s tails with you, Tiger Woods is re-inventing the mini-golf experience with PopStroke. The two 18-hole putting courses at each facility are built with high-grade synthetic turfs and incorporate realistic fairways, bunkers, water hazards and rough. The fun is in the challenge and every player leaves with a Bridgestone golf ball, the official golf balls used by Tiger. Yes, you can bring your own putter or use one of Popstroke’s own two-way blades.
2. Putting Made Fun
Tiger Woods has always been on the cutting edge of progress in golf and PopStroke is a reflection of his forward thinking. He has created an upscale, technologically-advanced experience that transcends traditional mini-golf facilities by a long shot. Wood’s TGR Design company is designing the putting courses to entertain and challenge players in a visually appealing environment. A Jumbotron leaderboard makes keeping score even more fun and a PopStroke app helps players keep score, book time in simulators and order food directly to your hole.
3. Can I Interest You in a Cocktail?
How would you like a Tin Cup Mule or Bourbon Lemonade with that 20-foot downhill putt? All PopStrokes feature full bars with hand-crafted cocktails, a beer menu and wine list. A quick perusal of the wine selections includes a Chateau Ste. Michelle Riesling for $28 a bottle and a Kim Crawford Sauvignon Blanc for $40. There’s also low calorie-friendly options, too, like seltzers in assorted flavors and White Claws.
4. Championship Cuisine
The sports bar style restaurant at each PopStroke has an impressive array of selections. Let’s just say Tiger brought his “A” game when deciding what nourishment putting customers need to perform at a high level. A cursory glance at the menu for the PopStroke in Fort Myers features apps like Reuben Eggrolls and Coconut Shrimp, sandwiches such as Philly Cheesesteak and Smokehouse Burger and entrees that include a N.Y. York Strip Steak and Shrimp Scampi. For the youngsters, there’s a kid’s menu with six items, 24 flavors of ice cream and signature milkshakes like the Cookie Monster, Peanut Butter Perfection and S’mores and Me.
